Disk copy

I need to copy the entire contents of one hard drive onto another. Any ideas what is the best way to do it. Posted from a mobile

whats on the hard drive you're copying? is it an os drive or just files?

The entire drive needs duplicating exactly. A mirror of the original. [i]Show us your wapwap's[/i]

i meant is it your main drive with the os on or a secondary drive with just say media on. would norton ghost copy a drive full of mp3 and movies? ive heard its good wap wappety wap wap

Or use powerquest's Drive Image if you can get a *cough* legal copy...

Its the boot drive for the pc at work which died yesterday. Rip. I have ghost already and partition magic but not drive image. Will have to visit my online software store. [i]Show us your wapwap's[/i]

Right the new pc has arrived ( i blew the other up). What I have done so far is fit the old h/d into new pc and switch on. Bios loads, detects drivees fine. then sit s there with cursor flashing in top left corner.

So i try booting from xp cd, everything ok. Go into repair console and i can read the old pc h/d contents. Now i repair the xp installation but when it finishes copying the sytem files i get the flashing cursor again.

Any suggestions to get it to load?

is this the disk with the old o/s on it? if so it may not be possible as it will have all the old drivers on for the old mobo etc and will get confused when stuck in a totally new pc. if this is the case you somehow need to remove as many of the old drivers as possible i guess?

this is what i am worried about. I thought by doing a repair on xp it would look for new drivers.

going to load new os on new h/d whilst searching for soloution.
