DVD drive problem

Hi, i have a problem with my CD- R, [ HL-DT-ST DVD+RW GCA-4040N]
i can read or write on CD, but i can't read or write DVD
My DVD drive is: HL-DT-ST DVD+RW GCA-4040N
My Laptop is: Fujitsu Siemens Amilo D1845
any body know how should i do? please help

what are you trying to read, dvd's with data on or dvd movies? Also what software are you using to write with ie. nero?

I have the same drive in my Acer. Can only read cd's no writing and it occasionally reads a dvd.

I have not found any info on the web for a solution. just that a new one from acer was ?155.

If its under warranty send it back.
