A machine configured in this fashion is well hardened to Internet NetBIOS attack and intrusion.

All attempts to get any information from your computer have FAILED. (This is very uncommon for a Windows networking-based PC.) Relative to vulnerabilities from Windows networking, this computer appears to be VERY SECURE since it is NOT exposing ANY of its internal NetBIOS networking protocol over the Internet.

the second test revealed that i had a port open, how do i stop that then?

turn ur pc off!

erm in ur firewall settings i guess.. does it not give u advice on how to do it and what the port is for?

oh did u run the test with other net using proggies running like kazaa? that may be why a port is showing as open

I have just run Symantec's security check here and it recommends i get Norton Internet Security - to close a couple of open ports (different to the other scan) only trouble is I already have it :?:

doh! anyone know how to block ports etc then? this is why i thought we should have this forum coz i dont know myself

It's nothing to do with running kazaa or other proggies.

Btw..... when I open Ed's link i do get a warning that their security license is not in order.... it's been issued under a different name.... :?:

rite wasnt sure if kazza etc would affect it or not its just that a lot of security testing sites tell u to close proggies like that before running the tests

same here, found it rather bizarre that a site that was about net security had a security certificate that was incorrect!

i know someone said that it wasn't due to net-using proggys like kazaa, but i was using emule at the time

hmm yes it is strange. just found something on it (i think) but cant view the page due to the bastid ntl dns error
