Pay as you go sim in the UK

Hi everyone! When im done with Australia i want to stay in the UK for a wee wile. And i want to have a UK mobile number from the moment im on british ground. So im wondering what is the best pay as you go sim to get? I want to have gprs to. What to get what to get? Pliz help me

i would prob go for an o2 sim which you can order direct from their website, it seems to be the cheapest i can see for voice calls etc, they also do one which i use which when you top up ?10 it gives you 300 txtx (worth ?30) and 300 wap mins (Worth another ?30)

Chris is right Endre, the best deal for you is an O2 Online sim, only available from the O2 Webshop though at http://www.o2.co.uk, as Chris says it gives you 300 free texts at 300 dial-up WAP minutes, but it should also give you unlimited GPRS WAP for nothing (mine does!), all you have to do is put ?10 of credit on at least every 30days. Only catch for you is that you have to order online and as such will need a UK address for delivery of the SIM

How long is the sim card valid> if i dont use it for 10 months will it still be valid when i return to the UK?

not officialy no, officialy you have to put at least ?10 credit on every 30days or it'll become invalid. Having said that once it's invalid you only have tyo ring them to reactivate them, and also i've often left it without credit for 4-5months without them deactivating it, they just keep sending SMSs saying that you need to top up

Can you recomend a sim that is always fit for fight every time i put it in my phone in the uk? One that me credit can last for like 12 months at a time? Posted from a T610 by Endre in Sydney

you have to make a call once every 6 months though, as with all uk sim cards. You can just walk into any o2 shop in the uk and buy one. (o2 is one of our main service providers. Orange, vodaphone and t-mobile also provide similar services, though i believe o2 is the best value for pay and go.)

i don't think any sims are valid in the uk for that long, you have to make calls every 6 months! sorry mate
