New Guru Software

Hi all, have just downloaded the Java SDK, and thought for the first program i would try to make a little prog which popped up if there is a post on guru (it will sit in the system tray) I have no idea if this is possible but i am gonna have a go... Don't expect miracles, i expect it will go the same way as all the other projects i do, i.e. it will be given up on in a few weeks but i am gonna have a go all the same
Just thought i would tell you lot anyway...

hmmm have worked out how to get the little tray icon so far, need to look at web connecting now...

yeah sounds like a good idea,..but i have got quite a few in my tray as it is,but i'm sure i could find room

Yeah its a big if atm, i am doing it more to learn the java language properly than to actually make it... does that make sense? lol

Its almost done, I moved it to vb.net (which isn't bad incidently!)
Had a big arse making it work with the little balloons on windows xp, I will post a screeny in a sec...

yeah, there are a few bugs mostly to do with display etc, but i think its pretty cool...

Some Further Details
[Features]
- Pops Up on new post to Guru (Can set checking interval)
- Click on the balloon to be directed to the specific post
[Proposed Features]
- More than 1 message can be viewed if multiple messags have been posted, at the moment it only shows the latest post.
- Data Exchange via XML instead of CSV
- Integration with the messageboard so when you press "watch topic" then it replaces your emails
- OR Can check pop boxes so you can have a different system, e.g. posts@plus-media.co.uk could be mine, which the software checks to see your new posts
- Integration with more than 1 forum
