Here's a wierd one for you and i doubt anyone will no the answer but i'll post it on the off chance someone will find it via a search engine when/if they have the same problem.
Yesterday i somehow mamaged to corrupt norton and it asked me to reinstall. i was running 3dmark 2003 at the time but didnt think that had caused it. in fact at first i though i had a power issue with my psu as i added 4 case fans and 3dmark crashed at the same time as norton.
reinstalled norton and for some reason everytime i disabled it before running 3dmark it enabled itself during the test. also 3dmark sometimes crashed to desktop inbetween tests?!? again i though maybe a power issue but ive now ruled it out as i have no isses with gaming or 3dmark 2001 and my voltages are rock solid. 3dmark 2003 again this evening corrptued norton and gave me an error messsage to reinstall and told me in the virus scanning box it had been tampered with.
so it's a strange one. pc is running perfectly excpet for 3dmark 2003 now and again(whcih incidently runs fine without norton installed as i tested between my secon reinstall).
Norton vs 3dmark 2003 - Crash to Desktop
Don't know how you did it, but I think you have the "PINO-syndrome", if you're able to chrash it, you will crash it (something like murphey's law, but much better, I call it pino's disaster)
Don't ride faster than your guardian angel can fly (...or was it : don't fly faster than your angel can drive???)
