How do I Find my Local IP Address?

Need to find out my local IP addy so i can run Nmap to run a local port scan.
anyone know how to detect the local ip addy rather than the external one?

disconnect your net connection, then type ipconfig into a dos box

didnt work. got no results from ipconfig once i dissconect my network connection

strange, when my connection was down the other day i was getting a different IP addy when i ran ipconfig

ed, from reading
here , it appears that 127.0.0.1 should be your local IP

that doesnt work either as it's a loopback ip or something

yeah sorry realised after i posted.
a lot of google links return the sourcecode for a little proggy that supposedly gets the local IP

you'd think that if so many people are posting code of how to do it, someone would've actually made the program available!

eamonn have installed the microsoft proggy but which one is my local ip?
