Acer Ferrari 3000

Acer website info I got this laptop just before Christmas and am excedingly pleased with it. I was looking for a laptop for a while and when I saw it I knew it was for me. I was looking for a wireless laptop, with blue tooth and a good graphics card. When I saw the specs it was near to what I was looking for and at a good price. Oh yeah and its red and has Ferrari badges on it, quite handy for a Ferrari nut like me. The g/c card is a mobile 9200 a bit lower than I would have liked but still excellent for game play. It has a cd/dvd writer which is great as most of the other laptops only have cd writer. The only downside is that it does get a bit warm while using it on your lap but not unbearable.
So to round up, its a great spec machined and I think a good price. It is a great looking machine too, limited edition to boot (still cant find out how limited tho)

what do you use for wireless networking?

I have a
Linksys wireless router
I connect my cable modem to the router then my desktop is linked to the router by cable as it is also a 4 port network hub. It doesnt have to be cabled i could get a wireless pci card for it, but a cabled connection is required for changing the router settings (for security) The router is compatible for b & g standards. My laptop is G and my Pocket PC is B. The router is dead easy to set up and change the security features to stop your neighbours stealing your net connection and shared files.[/b]

looks good. want one that is as fast as my current bb and that has a firewall built in if there is such a thing

I've just realised what you've said.
To clear a few things up:
1 bit (b)
1 Byte (B)
8 b = 1 B
1024 B = 1 KB
1024 KB = 1 MB
1024 MB = 1 GB
following
So now a dial up modem speed is 56 Kbps (Kilo bits per sec) note bits not Bytes
Broadband comes in various flavours but again is measured in Kbps (Kilo bits per sec)
150 Kbps
512 Kbps
600 Kbps
1024 Kbps = 1 Mbps ( Mega bit per sec)
Still with me
A network wired or wirless is still measured in bits per sec, but Mega bits per sec
10 or 100 Mbps = wired network
11 or 54 Mbps = wireless "b" or "g"
So to conclude if you have a 1 Mbps BB connection a network setup is still 10 or 11 times faster than the net conx.
easy eh!
