Winamp problem

Since the weekend, any cd i play using Winamp 2.91 stops after track 1 and then crashes Winamp, and Winamp is then impossible to close without rebooting my pc, but not only that once it crashes i then can't play anything using any other media player! 
anyone got any ideas?
