I keep getting the error seen in the picture below when-ever i try to use my scanner lately. It never used to do this. First time it happened i just unpluged the scanner usb cable from the back and it sorted it. On the second time doing that didn't work so i unplugged it from the tower and put it back in and that sorted it. Now what ever i do i can't get it to work. Any ideas what's causing it? Driver collision error?

Edit: Might have fixed it, didn't realise the lock switch was under the scanner (didn't think we had one), probably moved it by accident. Hopefully that fixes it

Nope that didn't fix it, when the lock switch is on the scanner makes a different type of noise. It's either some hardware failure or the scanner driver being affected by something i'd say but then i know nothing so...

so what's happening exactly?

Go to use the scanner, press scan and it does what it normally does then it says adjusting light levels- do not open cover like it usually does. Then it hangs there you hear the motor run like usual but it does this again which is unusual. Then that error message comes up. It doesn't scan the whole document (i mean it has to do that before the motor moves the head, but it seems to be failing there)

Unpluging the usb and plugging it back in as it says solves it but not all the time only some times

Unscrew the top/bottom maybe taking the glass off and spray the motor mechanism with some WD40 to lube it up. Should then glide smoothly over and scan all of the A4 sheet*.


*Don't actually do this. I'm talking crap.

not a driver issue, or if it is a seriously fecked up one. get a new scanner (or WD40 it )as it sounds like a hardware fault to me.

Ha ha it's screwed anyway so no harm trying . Probs will get a new one
