In an unusual move, retailers have taken the retail price tags of the Xbox 360 and Playstation 2 into their own hands.

Word on the Internet has it that the Xbox 360 Core bundle has been cut by ?50, dropping its price to ?149.99 from ?199.99.

Interestingly enough, this places the Xbox 360's price below that of the Nintendo Wii, which retails for ?179.99

The news of these most recent 360 price cuts has added serious weight to the rumor that a new hardware configuration (perhaps one that features an HDMI-out and a larger hard drive?) is looming. Despite signs -- and even some websites -- that point to a May release for the new hardware, Microsoft remains completely mum on the subject.

hadn't heard that, may have to delay buying a 360 a bit longer then

yeah there's a revised model coming out with HDMI. i'd wait if i were you as it will have a new, more efficient cpu.

HDMI? I don't have a HD TV so usless? Apart from 360 price will drop even more when this is out?

Funny how the core has been cut by ?50 and the premium only by 10. So just buy a core, a wirless controller and a hard drive for ?60 and you're sorted (you get 2 controllers that way to).

I'll wait for halo3 and buy it in a bundle, also the ps3 is yet to be released in the uk no?

I suspect they intend on selling all the old spec stock at the current price and then releasing the new spec at the original price

The HDMI feature is fairly useless anyway as the picture going through VGA is virtually the same. good to have it but no show stopper.
