i've gone and cancelled my Voda contract then.... still 3 months to go but I'll survive.... now looks like I can get Orange for a few months half price, so I'll probs get me a phone soon
For some reason the contract I wanted offered a P990 for a good deal cheaper than a W950 I can't really understand why but I figured why not have a P990 then
P990 is a less sought-after phone than the W950 afaik, over here at least. although having said that I know someone who sent their W950 back because they said it was a pain in the arse to use and really slow
Yes probably true it lacks 'wow' factor interms of sexy looks I guess, but it does have a few features extra over W900..... of course it's condemned to live without cute pouch but if it does WLAN I'm prepared to live with that
yeah checked the specs out last night, would seem that it does indeed support WLAN.
which reminds me about my new phone experiences, I shall post here:
Phoned 3 about my upgrade last week, only thing they offered me that interested me was another K800i for ?49.99, same tariff i'm on for another 12months (they no longer do a tariff as good as mine, not even for 18month customers), so I said I'd ring them back. Went into phone shops at t'weekend and couldn't get anything better, spoke to my mate and he agreed to buy my current K800i off of me for ?100.
Phoned 3 yesty to go ahead with the afore-mentioned, convo went summat like this:
Me: Hi, I phoned up last week and was given some options for upgrading and I'd like to go ahead with one of them please
-- 3 confirms my security details --
3: OK, was it the Nokia N73 that you wanted to upgrade to?
Me: No, that was a different option, I'd like (tells him afore-mentioned option)
-- 3 goes away for a bit --
3: So, was it the personalised plan you wanted for ?35/month?
Me: No, I want to stay on the same tariff i'm on now, for another 12months
-- 3 goes away for a bit --
3: So, are you saying that you want to keep the same tariff, and have a brand new K800i for free?
Me: No, I was told I'd have to pay ?49.99 for the phone if I wanted to stay on the same tariff
-- 3 goes away for a bit longer --
3: Sorry sir, all I can offer you is to stay on the same tariff you're on now for another 12months, and we'll give you a brand new K800i for free...
-- slightly bemused now --
Me: OK...
-- before I can ask him to repeat himself --
3: ... and we'll give you a credit on your line-rental of just over a month's worth, works out to be ?41
-- wtf?! --
Me: Er, can you just repeat that?
-- 3 repeats himself --
Me: So, can I just confirm that you're going to renew my current tariff at the same price for another 12months?
3: Yes
Me: And give me a brand new SonyEricsson K800i for free?
3: Yes
Me: And give me a credit of ?41 on my line rental?
3: Yes sir, so until the credit is used up you won't have to pay any line rental
Me: Ok then, that should be fine
3: Hold on though, did we give you a K800i in November?
Me: Yes
3: Was that an upgrade then?
Me: No, that was due to all the problems with my previous handsets
3: Was it a new or re-furbished handset?
Me: They told me they were sending a re-furbished one
3: Did it come with accesories?
Me: Yes
3: Definitely a brand new one then
Me: Oh right
3: I just need to check whether you need to send that back
-- 3 goes away for a bit --
3: I'm told that because the upgrades team is a seperate department from the repairs department you don't need to send the handset back, so you can keep it and your new handset will be with you tomorrow
