I was suprised by it's performance, but only have 2.1 creative speakers installed on her pc. I would say, don't put it in, give it a try first with the sound onboard and later plug the soundcard in and give me your opinion wich one is better.

it did work straight out the box, only it didn't recognize it as 2500+
it showed 1.83ghz as the speed, after the bios flash it showed 2500+

Well I realised how badly that I had been conned when buying my first PC when you gave me that price ed, as i payed about that for the fubar lump I have now. In fact the only good thing in my pc at the mo is probably the processor!! Anyway, my parts should come on wednesday, so ill be building it soon. Sort of wish id bought 2x 512 sticks now, but my 2x 256s should do.

yeah but u have access to a better one than this (especially now ive removed all the decent bits)
not sure what to do with this one tbh.. may give it to my mum (she's just had hers nicked) or use it as a server or something? actually can turn it into a TiVo

yeah but it'd be a base for me to build my own!
no mate give it to your mum if her's has been nicked

wouldnt be a very good base is what im saying - thus me buying a new one - would have loved to upgrade the old one.. the mobo is crap and u cant upgrade the processor. u would be best off buying a ?250 base unit form a local pc shop with say and athlon 1700+ that u can build up from there.
i made a big mistake with this one and bought it from micredirect who ripped me good and proper. bastids!
