standard settings : cpu 55 with asus probe 49 in bios
mobo 30 asus probe 27 in bios
under stress cpu 69/60 mobo 35/32
all temp. in degrees celcius, wtih two casefans blowing out the air, one blowing in
overclocked with thermaltake cpu 45 with asus probe 25 in bios
but mobo temp gets up to 40 , so I placed a fan on the chipset and it dropped a little (between 30/35)
I think I'm just not lucky with my proccesor (hard to OC)
I like the way it unlockes the cpu, so i'm satisfied
my girlfriends pc even boots faster then my p4 2,66@3,06
so overall ASUS ROCKS
So overall i wont be wasting me money on this one then. Could you give me an exact model name for a stick of 512? As I dont really wanna buy one that wont work. Also, if im buying the retail version of the amd 2400, does it come with heatsink AND fan or just the heatsink?
Edit: Whats the advantage of having a processor with a faster fsb speed (apart from the obvious performance in overall cpu speed) reason being is that I just saw a 333 fsb athlon 2600 on aria and its not much dearer than the 266 2400. I know the a7n8x supports it so is it worth buying?
you won't be wasting money on the MoBo, I've installed twinmos ddrram
but don't buy one, buy pairs (2x256 is faster than 1x512)
well if you have a fsb speed off 266,besides the fact your cpu will be slower, then you won't use the full capacity off your memory, because you can use ddr400
why don't you go for the barthon, almost the same price but with much better cache
Just did the deed and bought a mobo, processor(The 2600 ) and ram ( 2x Samsung 256mb PC3200 400Mhz Original DDR 184pin ) ?260.25 from ebuyer.co.uk Thats me well and truely fucked over for 2 weeks!!
guru wrote:yeah but cant u destroy ur mobo doing it?!? knowing my luck i would get a power outage half way through
why do u need to flash it ie. what is different with the flashed version?
I flashed my mobo asus p4pe three times, and the a7n8x four times
the latest bios shows if you're running dual channel ddr or not
and some problems with serial ata has been solved as well for raid support
there are a couple issues with memory warnings with the post speech
solved as well with rev 1005
it's really easy to flash, not like in the old days, you can even flash it now under windows (still won't recomend it but it's possible)
always make a backup of your current bios (awardtool will ask for it)
and flash it, if it failes I'll send you mine!
by the way, could you check my post under your dream pc?
I posted it in "want a new PC"
