Isn't that netgear thing a wirless access point? Just called a router as it has to sort out the wirless connections? Or it may also have 4 ports looking at the picture?
Why are they more expensive?

the name 'router' is because it has a 4port router built in - unless your planning to plug stuff into it you won't need that, from what you've described you just need a wireless access point so i'd save yourself some money and just get one of those

Or just replace the existing router with a wireless one that has a modem in it. Sell the old one on eBay or freecycle it and everyone wins
Mucho easier if you just have one device...

Was gonna move the access point around the house so i can get reception in my bedroom as i doubt it being in the kitchen will reach tbh.
I agree i would have thought a WA would have been cheaper but looking on amazon it's not? See links above?

I bought the wireless router. It has a big sticker on it saying for cable connections though. Will it still work with ADSL? Surely if the connection doesn't fit, i can connect my modem into one of the router ports? Humm, don't want to open it and try in case i need to send it back.
I can understand saying dsl on a modem, but this is just a wireless router?

Never mind sorted, it did work
I have set up a secure network, am using WPA2-PSK but can also use WEP. What's the differences?

answer to question 1 - that is for if you were using the internal modem function of the router - it wouldn't work with your connection
answer to question 2 - WEP is the older and far less secure standard for security - if all your hardware supports WPA2 then use that
