yeah but its the actual taking the back off the pc that im worried about (along with disconnecting every bastid cable)

u dont have to disconnect any cables bar the power supply, and only that so u dont electrocute urself. ur pc should have 2 screws holding on the side panel which when unscrewed should allow u to slide it back and peek inside.

What is your Motherboard Captain?? and never buy a gc wich says "SE" behind it (ati9800se,9200se) these are the sucker cards

Another thing you may wanna check is if the card your buying is an AGP 8x compliant jobby, as 8x cards usually have a longer connector than 4x cards and may not fit ion your AGP slot.

I agree on the choice of card tho

Just thought I would mention that for a teensy bit more than the 9600pro you could afford a Nvidia FX5700 ultra, which is a damn good card (ATI are better in some areas, Nvidia in others) but for the extra money you do get higher benchmark results in most cases than the 9600 pro.

Do not get a Nvidia FX5600 they are a total rip off
FX5600ultras are on par with th 9600pro at about the same price.

Cheaper you wanna go for a radeon, and probably more expensive go for radeon as well.

nvidia are doing better since their latest drivers but at the time of writing those drivers weren't out and therefore ati ruled (and still do imo)
