Sony offers cut-price PlayStation

A cut price PlayStation 3 (PS3) with a smaller hard drive and no backwards compatibility with previous consoles goes on sale later this month.

The ?299 PS3 has a 40-gigabyte hard disk and will be released in Europe, Middle East, Australia and New Zealand.

Sony has also slashed the price of the 60GB model from ?425 to ?349, as it hopes to ignite sales.

Not too shoddy a deal as I can't say backwards compatibility was ever high on my list. It's just a shame there aren't any killers games out for it yet.

I really doubt it will look much different between platforms tbh and if it did look slightly better on the PS3 it's hardly a god reason to go out and buy one at the moment.

yeah, because it's a Playstation controller, Sony got it spot-on all those years ago when they designed it and nothing's come close since

I do. I tried playing Pro Evo on the 360 and it just annoyed me that the control pad was so shitty compared to a Playstation controller

I hated the first Xbox controller with a vengeance but the 360 controller is the best around in my opinion.
