Just found this video on /. about the forthcoming game Spore, in which you start life as a single-cell organism in a 2D world and from that you mould a creature gradually until you've created a fully-functioning intelligent species in 3D, it's far more in depth than that but it looks bloody excellent. Video is 35mins long but really interesting

the /. community don't seem overawed by it, but from what i've seen they're a pretty cynical bunch anyways, methinks it looks bloody good

hehe I didn't realise it was so long ago I posted about Spore.... well it seems we'll be waiting plenty longer yet:

Gamers are being forced to wait to get their hands on Spore - the next creation by gaming legend Will Wright.

Publisher Electronic Arts has announced that the title will now be delayed until 2008.

every time i check it's been delayed (so much for episodic content) but yeah good call that would probably be number 2 (along with Portal and Team Fortress 2) on my list!
