HL2: Deathmatch

Just decided to give DM a whirl, booted it up, checked my options, clicked "Find Server" : clicking noise and a greyed-out screen, completely frozen, only way to get out of it was to hold down the power button - restarted and aexactly the same, verified the game files within Steam and still the same

check your firewall isnt blocking it then try the steam forums :alt:

oh and make sure you have the latest graphics, directX and sound drivers installed

ta. got it working now, portforwarded from my router and changed the fw access. most servers i've been on tho i manage to run about 3 steps before it goes unplayably juddery, managed to find one server which wasn't, which was a german one without about 16 players running around a tall square room with various floating platforms.... was mental!

make sure you sort the server list by ping and go for the lowest

y'mean latency? yeah i did, i was even using one with a latency of 18 and it was unplayable

hmmm it played fine last night on the same graphics settings, weird. and i not got counter strike source so it'd be a bit difficult

you only get CS:S with HL2 if you buy the Source Premier Pack, I just bought the HL2 Pack
