Portable Apps

this site is excellent, a whole host of free software that you can download and run off've a USB key, so you can take the software with you wherever you go and use it on any machine. I've been using Portable Firefox for ages for web-browsing, now also using Portable Gaim as I'm away a lot so can still IM people whenever I need. They've even got Portable Gimp on there

Yeah i know some people that have been using aps on that site. I was going to use portable firefox during my computing lessons, but i hardly ever use my USB Pen Drive

i use open office at home and indeed tis good, unfortunately space is somewhat limited on my usb stick so only portable apps i have until i get a bigger one are Gaim and FF

bloody hell they've now released Portable ClamWin which is a free AV Scanner that looks quite good and is only 5.1Mb in size

also, just been reading comments on the site and the developer talks about another 8 releases in the pipeline, and he's trying to achieve a new release every day!

I've known about portable firefox for ages, but for some reason didn't think of ever taking it with me on my travels... that was until the other day when i saw someone using it...

Must download firefox, gimp and many many others onto my HDD

Portable Firefox has now been renamed to Mozilla Firefox - Portable Edition and is now endorsed by the Mozilla Foundation - it's also been upgraded to the latest 1.5.0.5 and you can now get it in 2.0 Beta 1 (great way of checking out the 2.0 release of Firefox without losing your old 1.5 install) and 1.0.8 (for using the old Gecko rendering engine) Portable Editions too

new version of Portable Apps Suite now launched, the best bit being the new launcher they've included, which has backup options and a Windows XP style
