just ran an optimization thing in TuneUp Utilities and it warned me that UpdateChecka was using "an abnormally high amount of memory", just checked and it's using 27000Kb

looking at task manager it's using 29000k for me 2nd biggest running after ff for me. I never even noticed

I no longer get the splash screen on startup, have you got rid of it?

chris - fyi, just watched UpdateChecka starting up in Task Manager, it runs at 21000K as soon as it boots mate, got up to 21096K by the first check, but has stayed at the same level since

edit: but now, 2mins later, it's up to 39164K

chris - after UpdateChecka running for over an hour, it's just popped up saying it can't find data.cpi in the directory, i've just checked and the file is no longer there
