NTL to Up Broadband Speeds to 10mb at No Extra Cost

Post by fac51 »

BBC News report that Cable firm NTL are upping the basic speeds of its broadband offering from an entry level of 3Mbps to 10Mbps.
Subscribers will get a standard minimum 10Mbps connection speed, without paying extra. NTL said it was a "major step" for the UK's digital future."

The higher speeds pave the way for the online delivery of much better quality video and TV. More people in the UK go online via broadband then by dial-up, says the Office for National Statistics (ONS).

The higher speeds will be rolled out fully to 3Mbps customers by the end of this year, and the rest of its 1.4 million customer next year. NTL also said that usage allowances would go up from 30GB to 75GB a month.

Well i live in a small town in between two big towns which are about 15 min drive to get to their centers from where i am. I don't think i'm that remote, one of the big towns is practutly a city all it needs is a uni to become a city or somthing like that and they're on about building one. Maybe there isn't enough demand for cable where i am? Most people i see use sky. However, it is quite a nice and quite town, not loads and loads of chavs everywhere you turn
