wireless these days is pretty secure as long as you set it up right. the Linksys equipment is WPA compatible which is more secure than the standard WEP security that most wireless equipments complies with, so you can rets assured that you're pretty safe.

main disadvantages - people say that you can get connection problems between different walls etc and interference from other electrical equipment, but from personal experience with the Linksys stuff I think that is bollocks, coz never had a single problem with mine, was all good from day one

Ok, my dad doesn't want to get wireless due to the security risk and would prefer wired. But finding a decent wired router is hard. I looked through the whole of linksys site and all their wired routers aren't what i'm looking for

I'm looking for a 4 port router, with inbuilt ADSL modem and firewall. I suppose i could always use the WAG54G, but wouldn't that be more expensive due to the wireless feature, and can the wireless feature be switched off so no-one can exploit/use it?

yes you can disable wireless. Do you have some secret official documents stored on your computer or something?!

he he, joking, i don't really know, but my dad says he prefers to go with wires as it's more secure than wireless.

Anyway the Netgear DG834 looks ok for what i need
