I have installed and connected a SyncStation to my PC - not all SyncStations supports this service. The label on the bottom of your SyncStation should say DSS-20 or DSS-25.
mine doesn't say that. may have to invest in a new one although tbh i doubt i'll ever get round to it and just stick with the current fw like i did my p800.

i think the earlier versions of the P800 did not come with the DSS-20 because I tried my m8s P800 sync station and it did not work - it HAS to say either DSS-20 or DSS-25 on the label on the bottom for it to work.

Also I am thinking of swapping my K700i for a P900 - do you think this is wise? Just to clarify, I am pretty sure it is an orange branded phone - does this mean I can not upgrade the phone software or anything by myself at home? Any other limitations of Orange software?

sunj - Orange-branded P900s cannot be upgraded via the download service (or indeed at a service centre), I know this because i own one :( in hindsight i'd rather have a K700i than a P900 (especially with the P910 release imminent)

hmm okay how will I know if its a orange branded phone???
well im bored of my K700 now tbh, had it for ova 2 months and havent had a p8/p9 so would like 1. Yea i know P910 out now aswell but if i ever got 1 of those, would be ages, and no major changes really. Also its a pretty gd deal, straight swap.

okay thanks. I think its branded then coz Im pretty sure he said there was an orange logo on case. I cant put unbranded software on the phone even if the phone is unlocked right? Also do you know what orange are like about giving out unlock codes? (I dont want to get it unlocked illegally, I think he has been on a contract with them for about 4 months)

you can put any software on it, but if you mean the fw then no you cant update it. i read on esato a long time ago that orange will not unlock a phone for anyone

mine is R3C006. that sounds like a good deal as long as you can live with the inferior camera quality of the P900
