PC resets for no reason ????

yeah well i 've swapped my ram around,took both sticks out and re-seated them in slots 1&3 to see if that makes a difference.

It aint reset itself yet but i shall see

And check your eventviewer if you can see any warnings (errorlogs)

rright i checked my event viewer and not much of actual problems,mainly cd rom errors (usually when i've tryed over burn) got a load of Dhpc errors which are network errors but gives ip of firewall? then says network addy *********** was denied acess and was sent a Dhpcnack message?
Then a load of service control manager errors:

The distributed link tracking client service hung on starting

Sophos AV service terminated with specific error 1004

the AV doesn't start up sometimes so thats noting,don't know what that tracking ting is.

My cd rom errors start on 15/02/2004 20:56 and keep going every 2 seconds right up to 16/03/2004...so i reckon me needs a new cd rom

So ther don't seem to be anyting there really,guess thats a good ting.

Oh yeah system aint reset once yet

well sounds like reseating the ram may have done the trick

Yup reset earlier but i was doing alot of tasks,had WMP running live 300kbs stream of outkasts new music vid while running spy sweeper and had a few other windows open then BOSH! reset.

Checked the event viewer and there was this:

The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was:
0x00000024 (0x0019025e, 0xaf225304, 0x8046b177).
Microsoft Windows 2000[v15.2195].A dump was saved in C:
\WINDOWS\Minidump\mini031804-01.dmp.

But this time i don't remember hearing a bios beep?

someone has posted this on one forum so it may be worth a try

it could be your cdrom seeing as that is displaying so many errors.. maybe pino will have a better idea?

not sure but i tink it was reseting b4 cdrom nackered up?

I could reset with the reset button if it was connected up

But now i got new case and psu i'll hook it all up then....or i might just connect that one wire and try it later

Certainly is a wierd 1,but seems to only happen(mainly) when it's under load cuz it aint done it up to now?

happening under load suggests a power or overheating problem. your new psu may cure it

I'm just hoping that this is all down to my lack of power for my system,and is maybe all my devices are just screaming for more power,and my psu is saying bollocks to that!!!

maybe.. the only way to find out and rule the power supply out is to get that shiney new one fitted

Yes true, and i'm going to do it sunday

If i'm right my psu alone needs 60w my psu at the mo is prolly no more than 140w true power

best get that new smelling psu fitted

i guess it's not my psu

(but needed 1 anyway)
it's happened another 2-3 times since my new case/psu,this time i'll follow those instrutions so i can find out what the actual error(s) is.

Checked the error log and found that 100th of a second before it reset there was some nfo i tink on a log for windows servive pack4?? not sure if thats anyting to do with it but sure is funny how it happened right before.

I'll check proper later,and change settings so it don't reset on it's own.
