hey there,i just updated my main board drivers and need to flash my bios
but thats sumit else.
I came across a proggy supplied by the maker of my mobo (MSI) it's called Fuzzy Logic 4. Now this will automaticly Overclock your system,it has a manuel overclock funtion too and wasn't sure if this would be a good idea? Some ppl were saying that it's better to do it through bios, gets better results?
The thing is where i found that, there weren't anyone who had tried it.
it's not what u know,it's who u know.

Personally I prefer overclocking from BIOS as you know exactly what the hell you have done (what chipset voltages have been changed for instance)

If you attempt overclocking your board, your gonna need to make sure that it has dividers for the AGP/PCI frequencies.

The reason you need the dividers is because altering the FSB (the only way to overclock Intel systems that arent using a pre release chip) also affects the speed that other peripherals run at. Some modern peripherals can cope with higher frequencies to a certain extent, but most simply corrupt. Using the dividers locks the frequencies at standard but lets the FSB be changed.

As I mentioned over on Esato, you have the 133 FSB version processor.(P4 "B")
As you bought PC 2700 (DDR 333), this leaves you 33 Mhz on the FSB to play with. By running a FSB of 166 (DDR 333) you should get a core speed of roughly 2.8 Ghz.

You may need to adjust vDim, vCore or NB voltages if you get errors.

If you need anymore help, just ask

nice 1 andy even know i didn't really understand all that
so basically all i would need to do is alter the fsb, right? and maybe the vcore etc.
S'pose it would be wise to get a better psu first, and case to try and keep the temps down, if i heard u right u got 4 fans yes?
thats the ting i'm worried about when overclocking not to fry me cpu.

Oh yeah how would i check if it's got agp/pci dividers? Bios? i guess

Check the BIOS for the AGP dividers yes.

As for fans, I have 5 including the CPU fan. Also, as long as your system is stable then your ok really. Mines rock solid stable at 60 degrees at full load, but I'm gonna reinstall my heatsink as I'm a fussy git

I dont know enough yet Kev!

i think you should definitely get a decent psu first. overclocking will suck more power and you 230w psu wont cut it

230 W?!!! :o

Im running a 480 W at the mo. I'd recommend at least a true 350 W minimum!

@Andy

About the temps,i see u seem to have a few fans to keep everyting cool
i only have 1 fan (cpu) :o

so really before i even tink of Overclocking i should get a new case, like the 1 featured on here(black 1) :D
and a branded psu.Oh and a shit load of fans. And anyting else u could suggest?(Hmm Water cooling says andy)

Don't tink i'll be going there, sounds like whole new list of tngs that could go wrong. :bozz:
