IDE not detected

Post by arfur »

I am building a new system for a friend, all new bits. I have assembled the system and fired her up. The CD light comes on but wont open the draw, none of the ide device are detected, primary master and slave nor sec master. The floopy does work. I dont think that the hard disk are working at all as I cant hear them doing anything.

Any ideas i'm stumped and the pc is going to become airborne shortly. :x :x :arse:

They are all definitley plugged into the correct ports and master and slave set for each device? The only time ive not had drives detected is when i have set both as slave etc

also have you checked in your bios to see if the drives are detected/set up?

Ive ripped the cables out and started again one drive at a time. Bastid thing works now, although i am now worried i have snapped a little pin of the back of the hard drive, it seems ok but time will tell, its formatting now. I hope it will load windows ok.
