How do I Find my Local IP Address?

The one that says ip address.. you have to select the modem from the drop down list first..

doh that ip proggy doesnt work either kev

just shows the local ip as being the same as the external ip. doh doh doh cant believe it's so hard to find

that's because your pc is using APIPA (Automatic Private IP Addressing), this means that when your NIC is configured to get an IP from a dhcp-server and it can't connect to one, your OS will give you one in the 169.254.x.x range.

So back to the guru's problem....how is your broadband configured??
- how many pc's are connected
- does your modem/router gets an IP from your isp
- does your nic gets an IP from your ISP
- does your modem/router act as a dhcp-server

and what does "ipconfig/all" tells you??<-- this must work if your modem acts like a dhcp-server, it will tell you your external IP as well as your local IP

some more knowledge : 127.0.0.1 is your local loopback, it's used to see if TCP/IP is working correctly

ipconfig/all gives me a list but local ip isnt one of them:

tells me:

host name
priamey dns suffix
node type
ip routing enabled
wins proxy enabled

physicall address
dhcp enables
autoconfig enables
ip address
subnet mask
default gateway
dhcp server

lease obtained
lease expired
