Guru php?

Post by Chris »

Guru, have you thought of changing your reviews section so they are pulled out of a database?

It would be more efficient, because you would have less pages and less page sizes, and also you could search, and add reviews/categories much more easily. You could also have a feature to comment on them.

If you want this, then I can set it up, (and I actually will cos i know i usually say something and don't, but i can easily do it). can you email me with a list of the features, and all the reviews in a text file?

Cheers

ps. it would be easier if everything (including news etc) was in a database, could it would make administration a lot easier!

i think kev has cracked something similar by pulling out latest posts etc into a frame :) only prob is i dont know where to put the frame on my site :)

u can see it here:

http://eleventy7.250free.com/index

Hmmm, I think you misunderstood me :)

I didn't mean on the forum, I meant on your main site (the game reviews - http://www.guru4u.co.uk/gamesindex.htm) you could use a database to pull the things out (like my news page and my links page?) :)

Does that make it any clearer?

no i think it is the same thing chris. the link i put before actually displayed full posts rather than just the headings until kev customised it. so in a frame full forum posts were displayed on the main site. is this not what u mean?

Nope, still not getting my point...

Ok, forget you have a forum, What i am saying is, how about you have a section of your site where people can add/edit reviews.

(forget that they normally add them to the forum)

It is not important, it is just something I thought you would like to consider?

on the main site (NOT THE FORUM) you could database the reviews instead of just creating a page for each, if done correctly would save a lotta time and space
